How To Store Low Carb Bread
The best way to make sure that your bread stays fresh is to wrap it well so that it wont get stale. Put it into a large plastic ziploc bag and stick it in the refrigerator.
If you wrap it tightly it will stay fresh for a solid week or even more. Another tip is If you dont slice it, the keto bread will stay fresh longer.

So Is L’oven’s Fresh Zero Net Carb Bread Healthyand Is It Keto
The answer to both questions is a strong “maybe.”
If you’ve been reading EatingWell for some time, you’re probably aware that those two questions are very different. We’re firm believers that the keto diet is not your best choice .
The keto diet promotes no grains, starches, sugars or preservatives, and Aldi’s L’Oven bread has three out of the four of those features. Technically, it does have zero net carbs, though, and most keto diets aim for limiting carbs to 20 to 50 grams per day. Similar to whether paleo dieters choose to eat or abstain from grass-fed dairy, it’s a personal decision whether keto dieters will eat any of those “prohibited” items even if they’re within the overall carb count goal.
In terms of the nutrition of this bread, we don’t like to put anything fully off limits. That being said, we prefer to stick to bread that has as few additives as possibleeven if it comes with more calories and carbs. And why not eat the real deal bread and *actually* cure your bread craving with what your body is truly in the mood for: a few carbs?

What Kind Bread Is Keto Friendly
In general keto friendly breads are made of coconut flour or almond flour. These flours are used to produce a bread that is very low in carbs, and free from common allergens.
For a sweet and moist bread option try our keto banana bread recipe.
Store bought low carb breads will typically use a much larger list of ingredients. Some common ingredients in store bought keto breads are vital wheat gluten, oat fiber, soy flour, wheat protein, and more. While these breads taste good and are more convenient than making a loaf of bread from scratch, they do contain some ingredients most people on a keto diet would like to avoid.
How Many Carbs Are There In Rye Bread

100 g of rye bread contains 48 g of carbohydrates, making up 77% of the calorie count. In terms of overall macronutrient ratio, rye bread comprises 11% fat and 12% protein.
In terms of carbs per slice, a 32g slice of rye bread has 15g of total carbohydrates, whereas a thin piece will have around 12g.

Butter Vs Coconut Oil
I like using both butter and coconut oil, which are both interchangeable, so whichever one that you prefer will work well in this keto bread recipe.
If you cant eat dairy for some reason, then you know that coconut oil will be your choice. A handy tip that I learned the hard way is that if you dont want your coconut oil to taste like coconut then you need to use the refined version, not the virgin one.
Rye Bread Vs White Bread: Nutritional Value
Comparing the nutritional value of rye bread from white bread can be complicated, considering there are so many varieties of both on the market. Most rye breads contain some wheat flour, and not all rye bread contains wholegrain rye or wheat flour.
For maximum nutritional value, always look for the names such as whole grain pumpernickel and wholegrain rye. Other ingredients like whole rye flour, rye meal, rye kernels, and rye flakes should be indicated on the ingredient list.
An average slice of wholegrain rye bread may contain 1.9 g of fibre, 2.7 g of protein, 15.5 g of carbs, 1.1 g of fat and 83 calories. In terms of recommended daily intake, a slice may also provide 18% of Selenium, 11.6% of Thiamine, 11.5% of Manganese, 8.2% of Riboflavin, 7.6% of Niacin, 7.5% of Vitamin B6, 6.6% of Copper, 5% of Iron, and 8.8% of folate.
Commercially prepared white bread, on the other hand, contains on average:
-
3.3 g of protein
It also contains 8% of your daily sodium, 1% of your potassium, 4.1% of your calcium and 7.4% of your iron.
Its easy to assume that rye bread is always more nutritious than white bread. However, the results will ultimately depend on the ratio of rye flour to wheat flour, and how much wholegrain rye is present. Other additives such as flavourings, colours, and other grains complicate matters even more.
However, there are still many general conclusions we can draw about the nutrient content of rye bread.

Dont Use The Toothpick Test
This will come as a surprise for many people, and its a change from my original keto bread recipe. Do not use a toothpick to test for doneness. It will seem like its done before it actually is!
Instead, use these markers of doneness for this white paleo bread:
- The keto white bread should not make a squishy sound when you press on the center.
- The internal temperature should reach at least 200 degrees F.
Get Rid Of The Eggy Taste
Eggs are essential to hold the keto bread together, so the complaint with some of the low carb bread recipes is that they can pick up an eggy taste the more eggs that you put in it. However, there is a solution to that.
By starting off with room temperature eggs and coconut oil or butter will help prevent or reduce any eggy taste in the bread.
Some people suggest that by adding 1-2 drops of stevia to the batter, the eggy taste will be covered up.

Please make sure your eggs are at room temperature before you attempt this recipe. This will reduce the likelihood of the bread tasting eggy. If you keep your eggs in the fridge, no worries. Just pop them into a bowl of hot tap water for 3 minutes.
I like to use a magic whisk because its much easier than pulling out the electric mixer. Dont worry if you dont have one. I just find it easier.
Bfree Brown Seeded Sandwich Loaf
Net carbs: 6 g
Review score: 4.5 stars
I really liked the taste, texture, and size of a slice of this bread. Its has a slightly nutty flavor and the only reason I dont give it a 5-star score is that it did seem to impact my blood sugar somewhat
One of the positives of this bread, aside from the great taste, is that I found it at my local grocery store as well as online so its easy to get your hands on.
The main ingredients in this bread are potato flour and other wheat flours, so its gluten-free, which can make it a good option for those looking to avoid gluten.
Net carbs: 6 g
Review score: 4.5 stars
This is, in my opinion, one of the best low carb breads available. Each bun is the size of a regular hamburger bun and they have a light and fluffy texture. And most importantly, they taste like a wheat bun.
I like to toast my bread and this bread toast beautifully without melting or turning to cardboard.
A bun is 140 calories and those come from different fibers, fat, milk, and dairy sources. So although low in carbs, the bread is not suitable for anyone who doesnt eat gluten, soy, dairy, or eggs.

How Many Carbs Are In Keto Bread

A good keto bread should contain fewer than 3g of carbs per slice. This recipe is as close to no carb bread as you can get. It comes out to 1g of net carbs per slice, making it a great option. Depending on the type of flour you are using and the recipe you follow, your keto bread may come out with a different carb count, but it will still be a healthier alternative to wheat bread.

Can I Make Keto Bread Ahead Of Time
Once you make up the bread dough, it is best to bake it right away instead of letting it hang around on your counter or in your refrigerator. Making the dough ahead of time and not cooking it is not a good idea.
It is possible however to bake the bread ahead of time and then eat it in the following days as long as its stored properly.

You can make some changes to our low carb bread recipe if you would like to.
- Instead of using coconut oil, you can replace it with the same amount of avocado oil or melted butter.
- If you have a nut allergy then use sesame flour or coconut flour instead of almond flour.
- For every extra tablespoon of coconut flour that you use, take out 2-3 tablespoons of almond flour.
- You can feel free to add some yeast to your bread. It does not have any carbs in it and it will not make your bread rise any more but it will give your bread a mild yeast flavor to resemble traditional bread.
- Flavor the keto sandwich bread by putting some sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or everything bagel seasoning on the top before baking it.

Is ‘keto’ Bread Actually Keto
The ketogenic diet, or keto diet, is a high-fat, low-carb diet that replaces carbs with protein and fat. It encourages the body to enter the metabolic state of ketosis and allows it to burn fat more easily. While the keto diet doesn’t completely eliminate carbs from your daily diet, it does significantly reduce the number of carbs you can consume each day . “A keto diet usually comprises 5% to 10% carbohydrates, 70% to 80% of fat, and 10% to 20% protein,” Jonathan Valdez, registered dietitian and spokesperson for New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, told Food Network. “For carbohydrates, that ranges from 20 to 50 grams per day.”
Net carbs are the number of carbs in food that you can digest and use for energy . Since fiber is indigestible, net carbs are the grams of total carbohydrates in a food minus the grams of total fiber. While regular bread typically contains too many net carbs per slice to be included in the keto diet, keto-friendly bread is low in carbs and high in fiber and protein. For example, one slice of Franz Keto white bread contains 12 grams of total carbs, all of which are dietary fiber. This means that it contains zero grams of net carbs.
